Bobi Wine can neither walk nor talk – his lawyers say

As feared, lawyers of Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, have said their client was tortured so badly to the extent that he can hardly walk without support or talk.   Counsel Asuman Basalirwa and Medard Lubega Ssegona, both Members of Parliament were the only people allowed in the General Court Martial. The due told journalists outside of the Gulu Military Barracks that Bobi Wine’s head was swollen, legs and legs fractured to the extent that he can hardly operate his touchscreen smartphone.  Kyagulanyi was charged with two counts of possession of illegal firearms and was remanded to Makindye Military Barracks until Thursday next week.

Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and three other legislators; Francis Zaake (Mityana Municipality), Paul Mwiru (Jinja Municipality), Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo Municiplaity), as well as Kasiano Wadri, the Arua Municipality by-election contestant are being held. According to reports, Robert Kyagulanyi is being held at a military barracks. There were reports that he was at Bondo Military Barracks, Arua. However, reports from his camp claim that he was airlifted to Kampala then transferred to Bombo Military Barracks. According to police, the legislators and 30 others are being held abusing traffic regulations and causing a violent attack on President Museveni’s motorcade. “The legilators are among 34 others that abused traffic rules and regulations and violently attacked the motorcade of President Museveni. Kasiano Wadri’s son narrates eye witness account

Arua municipality contestant Kasiano Wadri’s son, Saddam Buni has narrated on his Facebook page, the events that occurred last evening in Arua. Buni, a former Kyambogo university guild president stated that according to an eye witness, whose name has been withheld, there were no clashes leading to the shooting. “It’s not true there were any fighting. I have been sleeping at Pacific Hotel. When I went, everything was calm.  As I sat at the reception after arrival,  three boys arrived and told us Wadri’s supporter was shot”, he stated. According to the eye witness , he advised Hon. Zaake and Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu to go upstairs to their rooms and they obliged. The source further alleged that there was no fighting but shortly afterwards, the place was surrounded by security operatives while the dead body as in the car. Facebook threatens not to invest in uganda's internet technologies over social media tax.

Facebook development team in Africa has threatened not to invest in Uganda’s internet technologies if government upholds tax on social media. The social media power house had late last year, 2017 revealed a plan to partner with telecom giant Bharti Airtel Uganda and Cloud services to launch a 770 kilometers fibre network in the northern region of Uganda as part of their investment plan. This will be no more if government decides to uphold the tax on “over the top” services (OTT). The Africa Public Policy Manager at Facebook, Boakye Kojo announced Monday afternoon that they have already notified the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) on how they won’t be executing the plan but rather “take their plan elsewhere” should government decide to uphold the tax. ” The model of our investment plan will be hurt by the tax in Over the top services and the company will have to hold back on the investment worth millions of dollars,”  Kojo said in part of the statement. Winnie Kiiza refuses to vacate Leader of Opposition office

Kasese Woman MP Winnie Kiiza was replaced with Gulu Municipality MP, Betty Ochan as Leader of Opposition in Parliament.  According to FDC President, Patrick Opoi Amuriat, the reshuffle announced on Friday were to take immediate effect.  However, Matooke Republic has learnt that Kiiza has refused to vacate the office saying as far as she is concerned, she is still the LoP.  “I have not received any official communication to that effect so I here working as the LoP. When the communication comes, I’ll vacate,”  Kiiza told journalists at Parliament this afternoon.    In related developments, youth from Kasese district have given FDC five days to explain the sacking of their MP from the role. Government reviewing social media tax expiry

The Shs200 daily OTT tax slapped on social media tax is under review by the government! Before you get excited and start chest thumping, the revision in the tax does not include the possibility of scrapping the newly found revenue source. The permanent secretary ministry of ICT and national guidance Vincent Bagiire says they are now engaged in discussions with the ministry of finance and the Uganda Communications Commission with a view of having the tax payable for 24 hours. It follows concerns raised by members of the public over the expiry of the tax at midnight regardless of the time one pays. Despite complaints and protests, the government has stuck to its guns to have the unpopular tax in place.

Swangz Singer Vinka’s performing prices to be increased

Due to high public demand,  Swangz Avenues  hotcake and self-claimed singer The Man Herself better known as  Vinka , is rumoured that her bosses to have hiked her performing fees, Mbu has learnt. According our moles at the  Muyenga  based record label Swangz, the Love doctor singer , whose star is continuously shining bright is said that she will be performing for around 3 to 4 million shillings in places and areas around Kampala. And, she will go for 4 to 5 million shillings from places far away from Kampala as her managers will agree with the respective events organizers . We haven’t yet confirmed whether the claims are true as by press time her managers had not got back to us to confirm the developments despite our tried efforts to get to them. However, let’s hope that the increased fares will be in favour of the artist so that at the end of her contract she shouldn’t complain of having been cheated during her reign.
