Winnie Kiiza refuses to vacate Leader of Opposition office

Kasese Woman MP Winnie Kiiza was replaced with Gulu Municipality MP, Betty Ochan as Leader of Opposition in Parliament. According to FDC President, Patrick Opoi Amuriat, the reshuffle announced on Friday were to take immediate effect.

However, Matooke Republic has learnt that Kiiza has refused to vacate the office saying as far as she is concerned, she is still the LoP.
“I have not received any official communication to that effect so I here working as the LoP. When the communication comes, I’ll vacate,” Kiiza told journalists at Parliament this afternoon.
In related developments, youth from Kasese district have given FDC five days to explain the sacking of their MP from the role.
Gideon Ntabosi, the Kasese district vice chairperson who also doubles as FDC youth chairperson in Kasese said the manner in which Winnie Kiiza was dropped is “so unfortunate and they need answers.”
The angry youth threatened to demonstrate if the FDC party fails to give clear reasons for the reshuffle.
Kiiza was dropped alongside Bugweri MP, Abdu Katuntu among others in a move critics say is a purge of those that supported former party president Gen. Mugisha Muntu.
