The Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, has paid glowing tribute to the fallen Assistant Inspector of Police, Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Addressing mourners at a requiem mass held at Rubaga Cathedral, the Police chief described Kaweesi as a problem solver who helped him to handle the force.
*Hundreds of mourners thronged Rubaga to attend the mass.
They included high ranking government officials, relatives, police force and members of the public*.
The Archi Bishop of Kampala Diocese Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga led the mass.
“Kaweesi always thought outside the box. He was a problem solver. He always tried so hard to find a solution to problems. I knew Kaweesi would help me handle the force and I made him my personal assistant,” Kayihura said.
Explaining Kaweesi’s rapid promotion, Kayihura said: “I identified him because he would always challenge me.
Other officers would keep quiet but Kaweesi would not. Kaweesi was a very pleasant person to work. I can't think of any initiative to improve the Police that he wasn't part of.” *Kayihura challenged young police officers to emulate Kaweesi saying he diligently served the force*. "On behalf of Police I want to add my voice to appreciate the outpouring of emotions towards the late Kaweesi. *I have no doubt that AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi is in heaven*.
Where else would such a human being be?” Kaweesi 43, his driver, body guard were gunned down on Friday morning at Kulambiro a few meters from Kaweesi’s home on their way to work. Kaweesi is survived by a widow, Annet and 4 children. He will be laid to rest at his ancestral ground on Tuesday in Lwengo District.
