I didn’t go in music accidently but it was planned that it
will happen. I started writing my lyrics and then after in my vacation is when
SK SIMEON came to Uganda and so the power of music in me. I recall in my high
schooli used to sing along with my friends behind the class room and I realised
that I can make it. I used to see how he does his music and practices so also
inspired me to join music.

background?
Yami J finished school and also studied from two schools that
included Mt St Henry’s High school Mukono and St Mathius Kalemba Nazingo in
Kayunga. After my high school I didn’t stop there so I had to do what I love

I started slowly by slowly after making my first duo called
fighter that song opened me to people’s
ears to know that there is also Yami J. people started loving what I do and
meet good people who started helping my
music and they are Hype Dreams Records, Australia. So we made with them great reggae
song called Monica which assured me that I can make it in music
7. What inspired you to get into the Industry?
Hmmm I looked on what tool I should use to promote where I
come from and practices what I’m studying so when I looked that music has
power. It reaches where you have never reached and all these people watch your
video so which means it’s the best way to promote what you think that will work
for your people.
8. What have been some of your best
moments in the industry?
I won’t say that I found the worst thing in the industry but I
got challenges of working with untrustworthy people who are always thirsty of
money which pushes us back. Another thing is promotion it’s not easy to do if
you don’t have anyone you know.
