Mobile money tax should be paid to pay our emoluments

several members of parliament have opposed the public's demand to scrap away the mobile money tax that has caused a lot of controversy and with a lot secrets leaking that the passing of the proposed bill on the tax was not legal but rather a forged one.

 other legislators say that the tax should be paid so as they can be paid their emoluments 


 HON ODONGA-OTTO: Mr Speaker, I rise on a point of order. My honourable colleague from Kasese just said that this House is attempting to strangle the poor. I am a member of the Committee on Finance and we were advised – (Interjections) -Mr Speaker, protect me from hon. Anywarach. If you transfer Shs 1,000,000, you pay Shs 20,000 to the South Africans.

Today, the Government is just asking for Shs 1,000 and everyone is up in arms; this is lack of patriotism. Is the honourable member in order to mislead the House that this tax which is being introduced to let the Uganda Government also get some money as opposed to giving it all to the South Africans - that we are strangling the peasants and yet we need it to also pay our emoluments?

Kasiano Wadri’s son narrates eye witness account

Arua municipality contestant Kasiano Wadri’s son, Saddam Buni has narrated on his Facebook page, the events that occurred last evening in Arua. Buni, a former Kyambogo university guild president stated that according to an eye witness, whose name has been withheld, there were no clashes leading to the shooting. “It’s not true there were any fighting. I have been sleeping at Pacific Hotel. When I went, everything was calm.  As I sat at the reception after arrival,  three boys arrived and told us Wadri’s supporter was shot”, he stated. According to the eye witness , he advised Hon. Zaake and Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu to go upstairs to their rooms and they obliged. The source further alleged that there was no fighting but shortly afterwards, the place was surrounded by security operatives while the dead body as in the car.  Eddy Kenzo shared his HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) results with the public to counter various reports from tabloids and bloggers who have been claiming that his recent bedridden state is because his HIV positive. Edrissa Musuuza is not new to blunt attacks from the media. He has for long been aimed at by a few tabloids, journalists and bloggers with a couple of wrong reports and rumors. Ofwono Opondo’s daughter graduates in Poland

Government mouthpiece, Ofwono Opondo is a smart man. While he was debating in TV talk shows about standards of Ugandan universities, the NRM diehard, li Ofwono’s daughter has graduated in Polish university,  Vistula . The proud father attended the 2017/18 graduation ceremony, this time not in Karamoja regalia but rather a black suit and yellow tie. According to online sources, in Poland, higher education is free for Polish students.  International students are required to pay tuition fees, which are typically in the range of US$2,300 (about Shs8.3m) -4,530 (Shs17m) per year at public universities. This actually makes Poland one of the cheapest places for international students. However, Vistula is a private university, nevertheless, it’s the only! Empowered with knowledge and skills, there is no doubt Mr. O.O’s daughter will be of great value to Uganda! Congratulations!
