Bobi Wine and Jose Chameleone Hit back at UPRS Officials.

After a series of continued conflict from last year between musicians and UPRS when artists furiously disagreed on how the association (Uganda Performing Rights Society) was charging and benefiting from the artiste’s music. The complaints raised by several artistes led to emergency of several associations in the country including UMA (Uganda Musicians Association).

Meanwhile, yesterday during a general annual meeting at Satellite Hotel Kisasi, the committee that had gathered to pass the resolutions, launch new music app that will track the performance and airplays of each song and election of the new committee denied access to most of the artistes and media with allegations that they were only allowing the members of the association and a few journalists.

The committee however held elections of the new board which is going to be headed by faded singer Dr Tee and 15 other directors on the board. Shockingly, most of the country’s top artistes shun the meeting despite being given invitations letters prior with the exception of Dr. Hilderman, Chance Nalubega among others however all top popular artistes failed to show up.

However, singer Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine have questioned the worthiness of the association with allegations that according to last year’s revenue collections, the Association acquired over Ugx600million but only spent Ugx69million. The two top artistes have vowed to shun the association’s meetings and calls calling them corrupt and conmen.
